Y3 were so excited to create their own paints like gatherers from the Stone Age to create their art using mixed media and drawing skills. They discussed why cave paintings may have existed. They were very engaged and enjoyed tasting the blackberries too! were so excited to create their own paints like gatherers from the Stone Age to create their art using mixed media and drawing skills. Our topic in EYFS at the moment is ‘Super Duper You!’

The children loved spotting a superhero on our CCTV. They have been so engaged in their new role play area: writing secret messages for their superhero friends, making their own superhero masks and using positive words of affirmation in the mirror to say what is special about themselves
Maths
Today, we worked in teams of 4 to solve problems linked to Place Value. We worked silently to match the cards showing different representations of numbers. We were only allowed to help our team mates non- verbally until we each had 4 representations of our given number. We had a great time practicing our problem solving skills (as well as turn taking and communication skills).
We love problem solving in Year 2. We are learning about place value and we used our problem solving skills in maths to see how many different numbers we could make using 6 counters and a place value grid!
As part of their learning in PSHE, Year 2 have been learning about different emotions and what that might look like for different people.
We showed these emotions and discussed how we can react when someone might be feeling big emotions and how we could help them.
Year 1 had an amazing time visiting Sunderland museum as part of our history topic. We participated in a ‘toys from the past’ workshop. We had lots of fun exploring and playing with old/new toys. We discussed why we thought some toys were old and how they were different from modern toys. We discussed the types of materials used and how new toys are often made of plastic where old toys were usually wood, metal or porcelain.
School Council had a yummy task today!
The Local Authority School Meals service chose our school to try some delicious new recipes that may feature on the new Menu from September.
The children were very professional, taking their time to fill in the evaluation sheets and give their informed opinions.
Well done everyone!
On International Women’s Day, 8 March, members of the student council delivered flowers to all of the ladies in school! Please note it was also World Book Day!
Respect!
