Year 5 enjoyed a poetry cafe this morning after completing their poetry unit which they have engaged beautifully with. The children chose a poem to read to the class that they had written during the unit. Many chose to read the free verse poems that they had written with the theme of Remembrance Day. They showed beautiful speaking and listening skills and were a respectful audience whilst performing their poems and listening to their peers. Well done Year 5!
Wow! What a fabulous geography day on the River Tyne Y3 have had! They looked at features of the river, visited the North East Maritime Museum to see how boats are built and restored. They travelled on the ferry to North Shields. Some of us looked at books about rivers The Word. Outstanding engagement & behaviour. Huge thanks to our volunteers and drivers for helping us too.
Year 1 have been working really hard on their Autumn topic, look at the beautiful work that they have produced and showcased to their grown ups at Harvest Festival. Well done everyone!
As part of their learning in PSHE, Year 2 have been learning about different emotions and what that might look like for different people.
We showed these emotions and discussed how we can react when someone might be feeling big emotions and how we could help them.
Year 1 had an amazing time visiting Sunderland museum as part of our history topic. We participated in a ‘toys from the past’ workshop. We had lots of fun exploring and playing with old/new toys. We discussed why we thought some toys were old and how they were different from modern toys. We discussed the types of materials used and how new toys are often made of plastic where old toys were usually wood, metal or porcelain.
School Council had a yummy task today!
The Local Authority School Meals service chose our school to try some delicious new recipes that may feature on the new Menu from September.
The children were very professional, taking their time to fill in the evaluation sheets and give their informed opinions.
Well done everyone!
On International Women’s Day, 8 March, members of the student council delivered flowers to all of the ladies in school! Please note it was also World Book Day!
Respect!
