Personal Development Awards
As a school we pride ourselves on our education and support of the whole child. Academic success is important and children need to be supported to reach the highest academic standards they are able to but most importantly we need to support the personal development of each child.
Personal development is something we plan for in school and do not leave to chance. We take our responsibility to support our pupils to be the best they can be very seriously. We focus on our values of respect, resilience, responsibility and engagement to support pupil to make good choices and be in charge of their growth socially, emotionally, spiritually and culturally.
To ensure our children understand the ways they can grow as a person we have developed our Personal Development Awards. In each phase (KS1- Years 1 and 2, LKS2- Years 3 and 4 and UKS2- Year 5 and 6), pupils work towards set criteria on their award card and by the end of each phase they, when have completed all of the activities, they attend a graduation ceremony with their family members.
The children set themselves targets each term and plan how they will meet the criteria. For example: if a child has not had a chance to speak confidently in front of others they may chose to have a speaking part in their class assembly or present something to their class or a small group.
Years 1 and 2 will work towards the Bronze Award:
Years 3 and 4 will work towards the Gold Award:
Year 5 and 6 will work towards the Diamond Award:
At the end of year 2, 4 and 6, our pupils graduate their stage of the award with a very special ceremony and gain their certificate!
