Thank you so much to our amazing parents and carers for attending our Year 1 phonics family learning this half term. We have worked on different reading strategies to make phonics and reading exciting. Our Year 1 friends showed off their amazing reading skills and worked on building their fluency.
We finished off with a phonics Easter egg hunt.

Y3 joined our Y3 Hedworthfield friends for a Last Supper to end our RE topic today. They broke and shared bread and ‘wine’ (blackcurrant juice). They had a great time doing activities together. Federation fun!
Today, we had a very special assembly to celebrate Holy Week, an important time for those within the Christian faith.
Reverend Jason, from St Peter’s Church, worked with some of our year 5/6 children to retell the stories of the last supper, the crucifixion/Good Friday and Easter Sunday to our children in school.
They did an amazing job at using drama to demonstrate their understanding of these important stories within Holy Week
Y4 were historians today at Arbeia Roman fort. They looked at sources of evidence and explored the site where the Romans lived. Just like the Romans, they were good walkers – over 15300 steps! Thanks to our volunteers for coming along.
Today year 3 student councillors attended the Town Hall with our friends from Hedworthfield.
The children found out what qualities make a good leader, they then took part in a democratic election!
The children were amazing ambassadors for our school! Well done everyone
As part of British Science Week, Year 2 were given the opportunity to be forensic detectives and asked to solve the mystery of who stole the sweets!
They learned all about fingerprints and how they are unique. They enjoyed using the ink pads and magnifying glasses to find the prints that matched the ones on the jar and could identify the different patterns, whorls, loops and arches.
Well done Year 2, you’ll solved the crime!
Our school council had the pleasure of working with Groudworks today. They discussed the importance of recycling and disposing of rubbish correctly, as littering can have a negative impact on wildlife and our environment. They then helped to clean up our local park and although they enjoyed the challenge and using the litter pickers, they were surprised at the amount of plastic, paper, metal and food waste they managed to collect.
Great work everyone!

Today we had an alien invasion at our phonics family learning…
Our Year 1 friends used their fantastic phonics skills to decode and read the alien words. We then went on an outdoor alien hunt to find the hidden alien words.
Thank you so much to our amazing parents and carers for your excellent engagement as always!

The whole school joined together to celebrate achieving our Rainbow Flag Award with a special love yourself day!
This week we welcomed our grown ups into our French Cafe.
We loved practising our french vocabilarly.
