To show their respect on Remembrance Day. A beautiful piece of art work created by the children was placed at Monkton Cenotaph.
Year 2 spent the afternoon learning about Remembrance day and why it is important.
We created some art to be taken to the cenotaph to pay our respects.
Well done Year 2 for your outstanding and respectful attitudes.
This week, the children in nursery and reception had a visit from the school nurses. They shared stories and activities to help them consider how to keep themselves healthy.
They talked about how important it is to look after their teeth by brushing them twice a day and making healthy choices with food and drink.
They also learnt a song to sing when washing their hands, to make sure to get rid of all of those nasty germs!
Our children were engaged and respectful, and they knew lots of ways to keep themselves healthy! They all received two certificates for their achievements!
Today, reception took part in their first of three exploration sessions of their local area. The children had a wonderful time meeting Reverend Jason and visiting St Peter’s Church.
They talked about the importance of Harvest Festival within the Christian community, and how the church helps people in the local community.
The children took turns to place food on the alter, and thought about what they are thankful for. They even contributed some of their ideas onto the church’s pumpkin.
Finally, they explored key features of a Christian church as part of our religious education syllabus. The staff helped explain to the children the purpose of the alter, don’t and pulpit.
The children demonstrated outstanding behaviour throughout and they were extremely respectful. Thank you to all of the special adults who helped to make this trip possible.

Year 2 have further developed their artistic skill of blending this week.
We explored cool and cold colours using watercolour pencils and learned how to blend the colours using water and a paintbrush.

Nursery had a very special visitor this week… Reverend Jason from St Peter’s Church.
He came to share the importance of the festival ‘Harvest’ within the Christian religion, and helped the children to think about how they celebrate people within their own communities. The children shared the things they are thankful for, and how they let others know they are thankful for them and their help.
Following on from our topic, Super Duper Us, they also talked about the ways in which they are special and how they help others.
The children were very respectful, and shared lots of beautiful ideas. Thank you, Reverend Jason!

Year 6 had a fantastic morning visiting South Shields Community Fire Station, where they learned all about different risks in our environment. The children completed workshops with Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue, Northern Powergrid, the RNLI, Nexus, discussed bike safety and how they can help our climate through active travel. Engagement from the children was outstanding
and we know they will carry the important messages they learned with them when they are out and about in our community.
