Today, reception took part in their first of three exploration sessions of their local area. The children had a wonderful time meeting Reverend Jason and visiting St Peter’s Church.
They talked about the importance of Harvest Festival within the Christian community, and how the church helps people in the local community.
The children took turns to place food on the alter, and thought about what they are thankful for. They even contributed some of their ideas onto the church’s pumpkin.
Finally, they explored key features of a Christian church as part of our religious education syllabus. The staff helped explain to the children the purpose of the alter, don’t and pulpit.
The children demonstrated outstanding behaviour throughout and they were extremely respectful. Thank you to all of the special adults who helped to make this trip possible.
