This half term, Year 3 has been studying the exciting topic of ‘The Stone Age’. We have been to Jarrow Hall and taken a trip back in time. Whilst we were there, we discovered what they ate, how they hunted animals and the sort of houses they would live in. We created our own Stone Age spears and aimed for our targets.
Year 3 and Year 4 had a brilliant day at the Laing Gallery. We completed a workshop creating sculptures and also had a good look around the different exhibitions. We sketched some of our favourite paintings and looked out for different things in the artwork.
Our newly elected school council from Valley View and Hedworthfield were welcomed by the Deputy Mayor for a tour of the Town Hall in South Shields this week.
The children learned about the history of the Town Hall, they created their own school crest, they participated in a very challenging question time and took a vote on whether to ban homework or not !
It was a great visit, our school council were amazing ambassadors for our schools.
Thank you so much to the Town Hall staff, Deputy Mayor and Councillors who made us feel so welcome.
We are delighted to announce that we have been chosen to participate in the National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP)
This support from the NSBP, funded by the Department for Education and delivered by the Charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast, will enable us to expand breakfast provision in our school and reach additional disadvantaged children with a healthy free breakfast.
