Great Citizenship

7th November 2022C Henderson

Today our children welcomed Ms Comerford, founder of Hebburn Helps, to speak in our school assembly. Ms Comerford thanked the children for choosing Hebburn Helps to receive all of the recent Harvest Festival donations.

Ms Comerford told the children all about the people that Hebburn Helps support. Demonstrating great citizenship the children  have decided to launch an appeal to collect blankets and hot water bottles to be given to the elderly people in our  community to keep them warm this winter.

Our marvelous student council representatives will lead this appeal in school.

Well done everyone!

Early Years Explorers

21st October 2022C Henderson
Throughout the year, EYFS will be taking part in three ‘Exploration Sessions’ to support our understanding of the world around us and our local community. We will be supporting our knowledge of our local area with first hand experiences, noticing the features of our environment as we go.
This autumn term, our first Exploration Session was called ‘The Journey to Forest School’. We were very excited to go on our first adventure and explore our school grounds! We travelled through the red door, walked next to our outdoor area, over the big bridge, through the wild willow den, around the statue, across the path and we marched past the bushes to arrive at the huge gate!
Reception used their knowledge of their journey to Forest School to create their own maps of our immediate area.

Ideas were shared with parents/carers about how they can support their children at home. Our reception children then joined us to explore some of these interactive learning opportunities with their special adults. We loved having the opportunity to share our learning in school, and want to thank all of our fantastic parents/carers who were able to join us.
