The ‘Big Sing’

All children at Valley View took part in our ‘Big Sing’ with Mrs Newbrook and Mr Richardson. The children enjoyed singing their favourite songs as well as learning sign language! We are now able to sign the chorus to ‘True colours’ thanks to Miss Mackie! Please see below a link to our videos. We hope you enjoy!

Year 2 – Forest School

Year 2 have had a wonderful creative time in Forest School during Creative Week.  They have learnt about micro habitats and looked at creating a habitat for woodlice to support their science topic.
They built dens and shelters to as part of our Mega-Structures topic.  All children followed the safety code and toasted marshmellows in the fire-pit.
In the afternoon, after hearing ‘The Sunflower Sword’ story by M. Sperring, they planted sunflowers to take home in the holidays.  They will measure their flower to see who has the best green fingers!
Year 4- Forest School
Year 4 had a fantastic time enjoying the sunshine in Forest School this morning! Children made clay dragon sculptures as part of our Dungeons & Dragons topic, modelling the clay and using natural resources from around the site to print scales on to the models and create a nest for the dragons.
They also made dough for damper bread using flour, sugar and water which was cooked over the fire on willow branches. The children foraged for and stripped the bark from the branches before using them as cooking utensils. The children had a brilliant time and their behaviour was outstanding. Well Done Year 4 and a BIG Thank you to Mrs Campbell for leading our activities!
Year 3/4 – Movement using Music
As part of Creative Week, Years 3 and 4 used music to create a dragon outline. The children used the beat of the music to create this. They also enjoyed working as a with musical instruments to match the beat of the music.
We loved working as a team!
